Interior Shutters Can Insulate your Home
Lowering fuel consumption has become a holy grail for modern homeowners. With fuel prices rising by an average of 5%, any way in which you can lessen your fuel consumption is surely a good thing. With the right strategy, you should be able to make back that 5%, and perhaps even a little more.
When one considers fuel saving methods, they are usually associated with a lot of hard work. Insulating your home, or tampering with its infrastructure, is clearly a big job, and will initially cost the homeowner not only financially, but also in terms of manpower.
Not all energy saving initiatives are so logistically challenging however. There are simply things that anyone can do to immediately reduce their fuel consumption. One of the simplest is to install curtains or indoor window shutters in your home, to block out any loss of heat, and keep out cold air from the outdoors.
It’s pretty simple. As well as being great decorative features, interior shutters are an additional barrier against heat loss. Their effect in this capacity is nothing to be sniffed at, and if you install shutters or curtains on multiple windows in your home, this can add up to real cash savings.
When installing curtains in particular, be careful not to cover any radiators that you may have. If you do, you run the risk of channelling heat from the radiator to the outside, which will undermine your energy saving efforts.
